Forsyth Tech Small Business Center Pop-Up Mixer

Forsyth Tech Small Business Center, in partnership with ActionCOACH, hosted a pop-up mixer for small businesses across the NC Triad area. From brow masters and real estate agents to organic cleaning and business management specialists, all were excited to gather in the spirit of entrepreneurship and collaboration.

The event was catered with bakery goods and beverages from business owners who are all a part of the Forsyth Tech SBC mentorship program. Currently, 30 business coaches mentor businesses in the area in categories including marketing, accounting, and the writing of business plans. Their studies on the entrepreneurial ecosystem, online trainings, and business mentorship/coaching programs are all gems that set this small business center apart from most. While 55% of their clients are minorities, 65% of their clients are female!

Staff members of ActionCOACH attended and were delighted to see that so many people were enjoying themselves. Many business owners present had never been to a networking event before. During the mixer, a presentation of awards were presented to small business owners of the program who Wells Fargo and the Forsyth Tech Foundation had recognized. Forsyth Tech SBC director Martha Larson, proudly presented the Wells Fargo Grant awards to the deserving mentees.

Director Larson is no stranger to awards as she recently won ‘Small Business Center Director of the Year’ after only holding the position for ten months! (Larson has been working as an SBC Director for ten years and at Forsyth tech for months.) With an average of 26 mentor hours and over 100 SBC clients served in the flail months that Larson has been Director. Director Larson and the staff at the Forsyth Tech Small Business Center help to foster up to 500 business start-ups and existing business owners each year, through business coaching and business education.
