TRIAD KIDS DENTAL MOBILE DENTISTRY PROGRAM, BRIDGING THE GAP IN ACCESS TO DENTAL CARE

Triad Kids Dental believes that all children deserve access to high-quality dental care in a fun and upbeat environment, regardless of their family income. This mission guides the day-to-day efforts of the kids dental office, where children of all economic backgrounds enjoy play areas, video games, and kids movies while they’re getting a checkup, a cleaning, or cavities filled by skilled, compassionate dentists.

This mission continues to come to light in Triad Kids Dental’s community outreach efforts, from their Caring4Community program that supports schools and nonprofits to their mobile dentistry program that brings preventative dental care directly to schools, childcare centers, and other locations.

Triad Kids Dental has partnered with local Head Start groups since 2016, and will be serving Doris Henderson Newcomers School, a transitional school for immigrant and refugee families new to the US, for a third year in a row. The dental team can turn any gym, classroom, or rec center into a fully functioning dental office. They are able to provide exams, cleanings, xrays, fluoride, and even dental sealants in the mobile environment – to children with and without dental insurance.

“We feel we have an important role to play in improving health outcomes in the communities we serve. There are barriers that prevent kids from getting to the dentist. No transportation. No time off work. Family emergencies. But kids make it to school – so we can see the children at school, and make sure they’ve received preventative dental care. We know this program makes a difference,” shared Triad Kids Dental team member Renee Young.

The Triad Kids Dental mobile dentistry program is an extension of their local offices in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Burlington, and Thomasville. The program serves the greater Triad area based on need, and is at no cost to schools or out of pocket cost to parents. Triad Kids Dental accepts Medicaid and most private insurance plans, and encourages parents to stay with their children during exams and treatment. During their dental appointment, kids can enjoy play centers, gaming consoles, and kids movies playing above the dental chair.
